Visitor Visa Extension

Extend Your Stay with Ease

Life is full of twists and turns, and you may need more time to explore, study, or stay with your loved ones in Canada. If you’re in Canada on a temporary visitor visa and wish to extend your stay, our immigration consulting firm is here to assist you.

If you plan to extend your stay in Canada as a visitor (stay in Canada longer), you must apply for a visitor record.

What is a visitor record?

A visitor record is not a visa. It is a document that allows you to stay in Canada longer as a visitor, it does not allow you to work without a work permit in Canada or study without a study permit in Canada. This document includes a new expiry date that you must leave Canada by.

When to apply for a visitor record?

You must apply for a visitor record before your current status expires. If you’re unsure when your status expires, contact us and we will gladly advise you.

If I leave Canada for a while, can I use the visitor record to come back?

A visitor record is a document that allows you to stay in Canada longer. It doesn’t guarantee that you can leave and then re-enter Canada. If you plan to travel outside Canada or the United States, you need a valid entry document, such as a visitor visa or an eTA, to return to Canada.

I stayed in Canada longer than I was supposed to. How do I restore my status as a visitor?

If your visitor status has expired by less than 90 days, you can restore it. To initiate this process, you must complete an application. If you have lost your status you can contact us and we will help you with your application in a professional manner.
